Muijen, Cornelis Johannes van
Worked at PZH from Feb 1901 until Nov 1904

Cornelis Jacobus van Muijen (Cees) was born on 21 February 1886 in The Hague as the son of a carpenter. He started at Rozenburg on 3 June 1899, age 13, and left already on 1 Feb 1901, age 14, still as an apprentice. With DG Bordewijk and JCP de Vries, who left Rozenburg on the same day as him, he was hired by E Estié to start at PZH. All three must have commuted by train from The Hague to Gouda as they remained registered at their parents' addresses until end of 1904, with as profession “plateelschilder”. On 1 November 1904, he moved to Purmerend to work for Haga (and also Vet & Co) and after 2.5 years moved back to The Hague on 28 March 1907. He then moved to Koog aan de Zaan on 13 June 1907 but he is back in The Hague on 28 December 1907 coming from Purmerend. His next move was on 18 July 1908 to Oegstgeest to work for Amphora, till 20 October 1909 when he is once again back in The Hague. Thereafter he moved to Utrecht on 10 May 1910. According to Tasman he worked for St. Lukas until 1913 and then from 1920 to 1923 as director at “the Vier Paddenstoelen”. On 21 December 1911, he married a girl from Purmerend in Utrecht. In 1924 the family moved to The Hague. In the civil registry in The Hague, his profession is listed at “plateelschilder” w/o any changes until the end of the record in 1935. He passed away at age 49 on the 30th of December 1935 in The Hague, listed as “without a profession”.
