Frans van Katwijk was born in 1893 in Schiedam. He grew up in Gouda and started at the Evening School for Craftsmen in 1905, possibly starting at PZH at the same time. He worked in Nijmegen from March to November 1914 and when he came back to Gouda his profession was registered for the first time: ‘plateelschilder’. He reportedly continued as a decorator at PZH until 1923.
No work has come to light that can be attributed to him from a possible early PZH period, but he must have been a trained ceramics painter to make the move to Nijmegen.
